Your retriangulate and fill gaps (DTM) functions still create overlapping triangles.

could a polygon selection tool be added, very handy in other packages I have used.

Polygon selection is very helpful, data that is in a diagonal orientation can be difficult to select. It can be done through creation of a boundary but would work much better as a polygon selection tool.
