If you have overlapping linework (strings or lines) that you want to Inquire Area and create a area label, you can do. But if you want to save the overlapping area as a Polygon, the polygon must have point entities created at the bisections of the linework where they don't exist. Therefore if you have multiple area's like that or are quite complicated in shape, a new function similar to Inquire Area that creates point nodes or creates a Polygon area where a closed area is snapped would be great.

Great idea and if that becomes possible then It will be easy to use the programs existing functions to hatch the polygon.
The Area program currently says accept the Enclosing Area, then the Inquire Area menu resumes with options to Label Area and Position Label, this would be a good place to include an option to Create Polygon and to Create Hatch which would involve a sub-menu if selected.
If placing the Text within the Hatched area is required then an opaque area round the text by Default would be be better than not default behaviour. It could always be changed again in Properties.
I have this already on the road map. I would like to see how many votes this item gets. I find being able to create polygons by picking within an area defined with or without point very useful.
