Save file indicator

Can we have a save file indicator.

In some other software this takes the form of the 'Save To Disk' icon being greyed out if there is nothing to save, or I have another software where, if there is something to save, there is an asterisk next to the file name tab.

I find this useful, but could be made as a preference for people to choose.
