Copy Selected Entity Properties without code

We usually run with the Program Setting "Copy selected entity properties" on. We want this to match most features (Layer, Colour, Point Mark, Symbol, Line Style, Thickness). We'd like a separate setting for Code as sometimes the wrong code will get propagated throughout the job. We can also see some situations where it would be preferred not to change layers. The image attached is a proposal for a UI change. Another option would be a toolbar and/or right click button to use each time you want to copy (e.g. click a line > click this button > draw something with same properties).

Yes, that's what I meant. We often use ByLayer for colour, but we tend to include multiple linetypes, symbols etc. in the same layer. We never really use ByCode. Currently we click a line or point, then click "Insert Line" and draw from there expecting the new line to match the selection.

"Set properties to current" with a functionality somewhat similar to the current "Match Properties" button, except it just copies it to current instead of another object would be useful. I still wouldn't want code to be included though.

For cadastral work, basically we want most points to be uncoded and to add a code to specific points (reference marks etc.). Another alternative would be a setting to set a default code for points (e.g. PT or [blank]) and have all new points use that code unless specifically changed when adding the point.

Do you mean to copy all the selected entity properties EXCEPT for layer or code (depending on the proposed setting)?

With many users moving towards setting their data to ByLayer or ByCode, I wonder if this sort of feature would become less of a requirement.

One other way you mentioned might be more obvious to users, say if you select an entity and in the Property Manager there may be a button to "Set properties to current".
