Sometimes when I open a dwg file created by someone else I see that they have used a no plot layer.
Would it be useful to be able to create a layer in Survey View and at that stage be able to flag it as No Plot. The benefit I think would be to not have to worry that it may get plotted.
I think we currently have to deliberately turn the layer off in Drawing View.
Come to think of it, how about being able to flag a layer as not for Export at the layer creation, so you don't accidentally send it in a dwg to someone.
Currently I use layers typically named Calcs or Checks, I don't limit the colours in these or make the layer names stand out in any way.
My intension was that the act of preventing these from being plotted or exported should be a one time decision. Catergorise the layer once then I wouldn't need to think any more about it.
I either create things in that layer or 'round up' stray entities and put them in those layers. Currently I need to then manually turn the layers off, or not select them if I want to plot or export.
Overall It would only be an option to consider, alongside delete or hide.
Of course inevitably, someone (probably myself), at sometime would be asking themselves the question, why is my entity not showing on the plot!
Thank you for the suggestion. I'm also aware ACAD have such setting for their layers.
Majority of our user feedback request to export/plot what they see on the screen, though with a greater emphasis for plotting. However, this request would contradict this primary feedback.
For layers you do not want to plot or export, I believe may users make this as obvious as possible by way of the entity colouring in the job or the layer name. I'm guessing this may be how you currently handle this situation currently?
