Segment Line and create points

It would be useful if the Segment Line tool was able to Create Points at the ends of the Segments.

I think this should include the Start of the Line that the segments are created from, and also the End, if the divide by number of segments is used.

If there are already points at the start and end of the unsegmented line, then there should be the option to duplicate, or replace, or not create a point.

Just to clarify, I do not need the polyline in segments, I just needed the points. The Segment Line command looked like the way to go.

I tried the Create from Entity and it only created points for the individual segments then clicking the next segment duplicated the point where the two segments touch.

I was looking for something similar to ACADs Draw,Point,Divide or Measure.

Suggest you create points along the polyline first before segmenting.

Modify> (Point Group) Create from Entity. This will create points for polylines (converting multi-segmented polylines into strings.)

    Hi Barkley,

Yes is was a Polyline I was segmenting, only the Tool is called Segment Line. Have a look at the screen recording to see the full thing I was wanting to do.

For context I wanted to divide the polyline up into equal segments as it is the centerline of concrete path and I wanted to sawcut joints so they are equal lengths.

There is much that I like about the Segment Tool, but having to insert points that it has already shown me is a pain.

    Hi James,

I'm not understanding exactly what you are referring to. A line has a start and end point at all times. It is a required property of a line. Are you referring to segmenting a polyline possibly?

Also using the segment line option, a common point for the end of line and start of another line is used and creates two links to the point.
