Free LIDAR data is available from the ELVIS portal in Australia. Unfortunately the process to import the data into Magnet office involves a cumbersome workaround with Autocad Civil 3d.
It would be great if we could import LIDAR DEM data directly into Magnet Office. The files currently come as a DEM in the form of a .asc file, however the format of the data is not recognised by magnet (ie it is not P,E,N,Z,C or similar).
I went to the site and after some trial and error and quite a bit of searching I was able to find laz files for the area I defined by creating a box on the map. I do see the tif, and made the mistake of downloading. Obviously the tif will no work for point cloud data. Try looking for available data in the Point Cloud heading after defining the area on the map and then using the seach option. In my case there was laz files, may not be available in all areas. I took a screen shot after inserting the pc data just for reference.

Can you provide an example file of the format?
