Hi Team there was talk about reinstating add/delete/swap triangles command as shortcut key options, but this hasn’t been available since 7.0. has there been any talk of this recently?
Thank you everyone for your detailed comments, it's very useful! We will work towards bring the options back as menu items so that they can be assigned back to shortcut keys/toolbars. Unlike the same option in the DTM Editor, the reinstated option will only apply to the Current DTM.
Hot keys avoided the need to move your mouse away from the area you want to edit triangles making it much more efficient. With the DTM editor you need to scroll to each option, click on it, scroll back to the area and make your edits. Furthermore, I often find that after I have selected which DTM editing tool I want to use, by the time I go to ad a triangle, for example, the option is no longer selected and I have to click it multiple times. When adding triangle manually there is now a half second delay you need between the end of one triangle and the start of another. Previously you could click as fast as you could go and it wouldn't have any issues. The new version requires a slight pause which, while not significant in terms of seconds, is still noticeable and a backwards step in terms of efficiency.
For long DTM edits it's a lot of reaching to the DTM editor pannel and swaping tabs to find 'Delete by line' , 'Add Manually' and 'Swap Triangles' the most used commands. I use keyboard shortcuts quite a lot while editing linework so it would be good to be able to asign shortcuts to DTM editing as well. If that is too hard, at least bring back the toolbar where I customise the ones I want, or, make in the DTM editor a 'Custom' tab where we can group together certain functions. At work we have a wide big screen so having the DTM editor docked all the time is not a problem but, when WFH, the laptop screen is very limited.
And talking about keyboard shortcuts, there are two places where you can set them, with different fuctions available which makes it quite confusing, it would be nice to bring them all together.
1. Settings Tab -> Customization -> Shortcut Keys and the other one in... 2. 'Customize Quick Action Toolbar' ->More comands...->Keyboard shortcuts -> Customize
->dig deep to find the desired fuction and asign a shortcut.
It is quite deep to go to asign "Set current layer' that I couldn't find in the other list (Option 1)
Moving back and forth within the DTM Editor is slow and clunky. If you change tabs you have to give it a couple of seconds to register so you can click on a command and make it active. Having those commands in a custom toolbar was a lot more efficient as those are the most used commands, speaking for myself.
I'm interested to know more about this request. Is it that you do not want to have the DTM Editor open? Does it take up too much space? Is it the switching of the tabs that's a bother `to access the Delete vs Add?
I can think of some ways to make this more efficient, however it'll be good to get some more input.
Reinstate the toolbar button commands. The DTM editor is clunky, especially when dealing with a large job where you are going back and forth between commands for an extended period. Having toolbar buttons for the few regularly used commands I use was vastly better than the current editor
