In MOffice v5, there was an option that displayed in the Point Code & Attributes screen that allowed you to "untick" Import Linework from MJF files. Although this screen doesn't appear when importing MJF files again, but would be ideal to have this option in the first Import screen. The reason for this is back in V5, you pre-loaded the Global Codes into the Project Codes of a current empty project. Imported the MJF file and unticked the Import Linework from MJF files.
Therefore the imported file that had the same field codes as the current project codes, would read that info and all linework will have the correct line styles, thickness etc. Whereas from v6 >> v8, the incoming line styles / thickness is defaulted to either dashed or solid and one thickness (0.34 or 0.35) for all line styles.
Scott said that at some stage, there will be an option from Library > Line Styles to Export to an MXL file the line styles and in Magnet Field, an option to load those line styles into field - so that the field data line work matches the line styles in Office.
Just as an interim, we have the ability to create a Default Job that could have the Project Codes loaded in it. Load the Default Job when creating a new job... import the MJF with "Import Linework from MJF" unticked and then all the line styles will be correct and won't require intensive editing to get it right.
I have attached the old Point Code & Attributes screen shot to refer to..
