We have a 50-50 balance here of some like the new split screen when adding new projects when one is already current, others not... therefore can we have in Program Settings/Preferences an option to disable the split screen feature and that new jobs will be showing on the top of the screen as a small tab with the jobname (same as what v7.3 and previous had).
Settings> Program settings> Preferences tab.
This is now available as an option in v9.0.
Much prefer open jobs as tabs to be selected. Split screen difficult to use when working on multiple files.
Good idea - not a fan of split screen either.
The 50/50 vertical split remains a constant annoyance for me. Why not add a user preference so the user can choose their preferred action.
The most frustrating change magnet has had in recent times. Opening projects in split screen by default is utterly useless on laptops and smaller screens. It should've always been an option in the "Preferences" section of the "Program Settings".
New Window Settings:
(x) Open Tab
( ) Tile Horizontally
( ) Tile Vertically
Hi Topcon, this may be a suitable option for people that have 32 inch screens or similar. Unfortunately, most surveyors run on a laptop whilst on site and sometimes another screen in the office. Having the screens split automatically when working on a laptop just means that we have to click it off or drag it up to a tab version so we can see our data. It would be better to have the option to toggle this on and off as the new system only suits office surveyors and not the vast majority.
Please reconsider the 'will not implement'. I find this feature maddening. You need to reduce key strokes, not increase them.
It would be interesting to know the reason behind will not implement. I'm all for reducing keystrokes. If I have to go and press a Tab View button to get to how I like it everytime, thats a waste of effort.
HELP TIP:- I edited my Toolbar - picked Standard and then select "Customize" button. Set the Category to WINDOW and select TAB WINDOWS and pick the >> to the right pane. Moved the TAB WINDOWS to the top and Save the Toolbar View in "Save Layout" - named it SurveyView V8.0 and now shows the Window Tab icon on my Property Bar - so create a new job > one click of that icon and done!
