Magnet Office allows the plotting of cross sections from the road module. It has been a common complaint that the cross sections produced are all plotted. This is an issue as there is often a difference in the cross sections required to be plotted to meet client requirements vs cross sections required to build a smooth and accurate model.
Magnet gives the users the ability to specify where and the frequency of cross sections along a model. This is excellent for model production. Often the client will have a standard set of cross sections required for printing e.g. every 20m and on change in bearing. A recent example given to me was a project where the client wanted cross sections every 20m on a 1200m road (60 XS) However, due to the corners and direction changes the user had over 100 cross sections.
It would be useful when pressing the plot button to be asked “do you want all cross section to be produced in the drawing?”. If yes, then plot all but if no then offer similar options to when extracting the cross-sections such as frequency on straights and corners, addition or omission of cross-section on specified stations ranges and to produce cross-sections on TP.
